Energy Efficiency Programs Have A Bright Future
In light of the soft economy, many people wonder if the incentive programs that we've seen over the past few years will continue. Since funding varies per region and organization, it's hard to give an all-encompassing answer, but all indications point out that the programs will continue, if not increase.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which passed earlier this year, is a strong indicator that energy efficiency programs will continue. The act includes $3.1 billion earmarked for the State Energy Program, which provides grants and funding to state energy offices for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. The act also provides $3.2 billion for an energy efficiency and conservation block grant program to assist governments in implementing energy efficiency programs.
With this new funding available, we expect to see even more rebate programs throughout the year, as utilities and states take advantage of these programs. Last year alone there was an estimated $2 billion in rebates available and the amount is expected to increase. Are you taking full advantage of these funds?
