Spotlight on Massachusetts

Massachusetts is one of the states in the country where rebates really thrive. In fact, 88% of the state is covered by incentives that apply to commercial lighting. Most rebates in Massachusetts are very attractive for customers looking to upgrade to energy efficient lighting solutions.

There are 46 different utilities servicing customers in the State of Massachusetts, making it hard to determine which customers can save thru incentives and how much they can get. One of the largest utilities in Massachusetts is National Grid. They are known for their dedication to reducing energy consumption and their impact on the environment. In 2009, they increased their funding of energy efficiency programs by $4.3 million. National Grid in Massachusetts has a very comprehensive set of incentives. In fact they have over 44 different rebates available covering almost every energy efficient lighting technology.

Here's an example of how a user in Massachusetts can take advantage of the program to save. A warehouse in National Grid's service area upgrades from (100) 400W HID fixtures to (100) 4-lamp T5HO High Bay fixtures. National Grid offers a rebate of $120 per fixture for these types of lamps, meaning the warehouse saves $12,000 when upgrading. This project also qualifies for a sizeable EPAct tax deduction. With all this "free" money, the payback time of the project is reduced to less than one year.

In Massachusetts, rebates are available in most areas. It's just a matter of finding out who is issuing the rebates, which solutions will qualify, getting all the approvals and filing the paperwork. BriteSwitch can take care of all the hassle for you.
